Book on Singapore’s natural heritage launched

• A BOOK aimed at making Singaporeans think and act green was launched yesterday. Nature in Singapore — Ours to Protect was written by photographer and naturalist Dr Chua Ee Kiam (left).

Said Dr Chua, a dentist: "The book explores the diversity of the flora and fauna In their different habitats and carries an urgent conservation message so that future generations will enjoy what’s left of our natural heritage." The book, launched by Professor Tommy Koh yesterday, showcases nature in Singapore through photographs.

It is published by Landmark Books and sponsored by Esso and Exxon Chemical as part of their centenary celebrations. It will be sold at selected Esso service stations at the special price of $23.90 for two weeks. It will also be sold at all major bookshops, but will cost $29.90.

All proceeds will go to the Nature Society (Singapore).
