Sacrificing holidays for a good cause
KUALA LUMPUR, Mon. It was a joint holiday effort for the environmental cause that kept pupils from the Bangsar Utama area and those from Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Gombak 2 busy last week.
They spent the time collecting old newspapers for the New Straits Times National Environmental Education Programme.
This morning, their joint collection of 800 kilogrammes of newspapers was handed over to NST marketing development executive Encik Azali Abdol by SRK Gombak 2 senior assistant (student affairs) Encik Abdul Wahab Ismail at the Kompleks Niaga Bangsar Utama.
Abdul Wahab said the school was currently carrying out a month-long campaign to collect more old newspapers.
"The collection of old newspapers is creating environmental awareness among school children.
"Our school will also launch a campaign to encourage the saving habit among the children,
The school’s environmental campaign motto is "recycle, reduce and reuse".
