War on Waste Campaign

Pledge Your Waste
CALL 734-8810 to help save $600 million of your tax money.
Impact Recycling is starting a pledge to put off for as long as possible the building of a fourth refuse incinerator, which the Government has said will probable have to be built by the end of the decade.
It is expected to cost about $600 million.
The call is to commercial offices which generate a lot of paper and other recyclable waste to pledge this for Impact Recycling to collect free of charge.
Companies who pledge their waste will also be asked to sign or set their stamp on a
form. The form, together with a monthly audit of all the recyclable waste Impact collects, will be sent to the Ministry of the Environment. In February this year, the third and largest refuse incinerator in Senoko was opened by the Environment Minister, Dr Ahmad Mattar. lit was built at a cost of $560 million.
However, at a public forum on the Green Plan held two weeks ago, Mr Tan Guong Ching, the Environment Ministry’s permanent secretary, said that the building of the fourth incinerator could be delayed if the amount of refuse generated could be reduced.
