Say 'No' to small plastic bags that cannot be re-used
I REFER to the article "Does plastic burn up with trash?" (ST, March 22).
As all domestic refuse in Singapore is incinerated, the concern about plastic bags being non-biodegradable is not relevant.
Also, the disposal of plastic bags by incinerated will not pose any pollution problem.
There is, therefore, no need to say "no" to plastic bags, so long as these bags can be used for disposing of refuse. Shoppers, however, should, wherever possible, say "no" to small bags that cannot be re-used.
