Promote recycling efforts in the workplace
THERE have been a few letters published recently on how residents can carry out recycling activities effectively in the various housing estates.
This development is very encouraging. To take this even further, we should also look into how recycling efforts can be promoted actively at workplaces.
Temasek Eco Action, a green committee of Temasek Polytechnic, has been exploring ways to coordinate a comprehensive recycling programme on our campus.
To do that, we require strong support from our management, and commitment from our colleagues, students and other staff, including the cleaners and contractors.
These two ingredients are very much in place in the polytechnic. We are currently working very closely with a few companies to facilitate the recycling of paper, plastic, glass and cans.
For those of us who live in housing estates that have yet to start a recycling programme, such initiatives are very helpful.
