Miri school turns trash into cash
KOLEJ Tun Datu Tuanku Haji Bujang in Miri, Sarawak commemorated Earth Day last month by "turning trash into cash".
A recycling campaign was organised by its Nature Lovers Club and LEO Club to celebrate Earth Day on April 22.
Old newspapers, aluminium cans and used glass bottles were collected from the students for recycling. To make it more interesting, the event was organised into an interciass competition.
The one-month-long campaign managed to raise RM976, all from the sale of rubbish. The money collected was used to buy a large whiteboard and computer scanner for the Mathematics Room, and also to give out cash prizes.
